Is it the kind of place where one might find ?

Peter: 21st Jul 2005 - 15:51 GMT

well, its very much locked up and inaccessable... though i cant say as much from the surrounding overgrown brush!

Jamie: 21st Jul 2005 - 15:53 GMT

It does look an awful lot like somewhere one might go (i should imagine)

Peter: "cottaging"? hahahaha!

elaine: 21st Jul 2005 - 16:13 GMT

if i name it can i claim it? it looks like just the sort of gingerbread house i could see myself living in, and such feelgood energy from all that manlove. not completely without precedent to convert - 'cottages' here have been turned into bars and one is an upmarket architect designed flower shop in west london now

adameros: 21st Jul 2005 - 16:18 GMT

In Portland, Ore. we have buildings like that around the older parts of town. If it's like what we have, it is an old pump house.

jen: 21st Jul 2005 - 16:54 GMT

It looks like adameros said. We have a building like that in our local state park (NY) and it's a pump house.

Peter: 21st Jul 2005 - 16:56 GMT

well, whats it pump? cause thers no water or resevoirs nearby... maybe there used to be, who knows.

sally: 21st Jul 2005 - 17:37 GMT

i think it's where the giant man-eating cockroaches spawn. have you seen mimic? that was so awesome...

kc: 21st Jul 2005 - 20:33 GMT

i think there used to be a reservoir on the hill behind the lake, tho no idea if that's a proper location for a pump house...

Ben: Pump house... Marathon Man anyone?

Windy city girl: COOL--Kinda Goth don'tcha think?

Not from that area but is it the old Boiler house from the original water well that fed the park before city water?

Second guess would be a Restroom. High windows would lend well to a restroom.

I cant find Empire on this map but I assume its down near Ocean.

Is it the structure marked "Accessible"?

deshant: 25th Jul 2005 - 16:51 GMT

definitely an abandoned pump house for the reservoir. but I'm sure a moonless night and a pair of boltcutters can answer the question. Velma, Shaggy, Scoob you ridin'?

Peter: sweet! lets do it!

elaine: no fair, ##i## want to come too

Peter: time for a holiday visit to nyc!

elaine: 25th Jul 2005 - 17:31 GMT

i'll say. oughta make it sooner rather than later, my likely host for such a jaunt is threatening to move to california or wales of all places

Peter: i live in nyc... and im a good host.

elaine: 25th Jul 2005 - 17:42 GMT

careful now, or i'll take you up on that, and i have to warn you, i am a total princess. and no putting me up in abandoned structures...

This is where young adults smoke their weed

old brooklynite: 27th Feb 2007 - 00:34 GMT

I have no clue what this was but the park was wonderful in the 1950's.It was free to get into and surrounded by safe neighborhoods. Growing up there and having the park, the playgrounds the gardens, great friends and everything that is important in life was to be found. We weren't rich in material things, but wealthy in the things that truly count.
