I've always liked this school bus, with its soaring-bird insignia and the stove pipe, suggesting that it's been used as a dwelling. I wanted to get a closer shot, but was afraid of being shot for trespassing if I ventured any closer.

elaine: see, that's your america for ya

piranha erem: 18th Jul 2005 - 14:13 GMT

maybe the stovepipe is there because they're using it to cook meth?

GGP: 18th Jul 2005 - 14:19 GMT

Hillbilly crack? That's an interesting theory...a recent article in the local paper mentioned that the neighboring county leads the state in crystal meth production sites.

piranha erem: 18th Jul 2005 - 14:22 GMT

well there you have it then. indeed, your fear of being shot was probably well merited!

i like the photo, though. you just know there's gotta be a story behind it. my comment above wasn't a diss, just suggesting a much different scenario for such a story :-)

elaine: 18th Jul 2005 - 14:25 GMT

yeah, i was seeing a limbering up to a whole duelling banjos meets pulp fiction twisty fiction

Eva: 19th Jul 2005 - 09:48 GMT

Yeah, just when you thought it was safe to go into the woods!

its funny how all us city folk automatically assume the worst situation surrounding a photo like this :)

elaine: 20th Jul 2005 - 14:58 GMT

it's bred into us. i blame horror/suspense/noir nothing good ever happens out there. pisses me off, actually, the rubbish we are fed an interpolates itself round our naive little hearts

the real story. the owner is a logger and takes his bus on jobs, its his on the road work shop.
