those look alot like teh buildings/sky at coney island... nice.

last time i was in , i was almost mugged by someone trying to steal the 50 cents I was attempting to use in a payphone. heh.

vz: 22nd Jun 2005 - 02:22 GMT

yeah, it's a pretty notorious town... exactly the kind of place most people steer clear of and i seek out like it's my job

elaine: 22nd Jun 2005 - 08:03 GMT

so the postcard sky is gods little ironic joke...

Peter: 22nd Jun 2005 - 13:12 GMT

i think the main campbell's soup plant is there, too... sure, "trenton may make and the world may take", but gimme a bowl of tomato soup over a pork-roll any day!

The two buildings are not projects, they are regular apartment buildings where regular working people live.Back in the 70's they were considered luxury apartments where a few of the Philadelphia celebrities could be found living and partying.Northgate 1 and Northgate 2 they are called.

On the outside to those unfamiliar with the place of residence it may seem horrific but to those who do reside it's their place they call home.

vz: 30th Sep 2005 - 03:23 GMT

it doesn't seem horrific to me at all -- i lived in places that look exactly like these for a good part of my life, actually, just not in this country -- but it does seem.. run-down? the architecture of the 50s/60s was designed specifically to look really run-down since the day it was built, i think, at least from the outside (like how they don't even bother to hide the ac and elevator towers). but this quality of it makes it all the more special when it's very cared for on the inside, in people's homes. because it's too easy to care about a place that is readily pleasing to the eye, but when one cares just as much about a flat in a building like this, i think there's something really admirable about that.

NICHOLE DAVIS: 22nd Feb 2006 - 19:35 GMT

WHILE PEOPLE ARE LOOKING AT THIS PLACE IN DISGUST THEY MUST REALIZE IT IS NOT THE JUST THE IMPORTANCE OF THE OUTSIDE BUT HOW YOU MAKE YOUR HOME ON THE INSIDE. I'VE SEEN BEAUTIFUL HOMES ON THE OUTSIDE BUT DISGUSTING ON THE INSIDE!

thats look like some of the apartment buildings in cleveland..but most are projects arn't high rises..there mostly only 3 floors...
