Ghost Rider on the Train

- GGP - Thursday, June 9th, 2005 : goo

[previous] :: [next]

What with all the edicts against taking photographs on the NY subway system, it seems particularly urgent to take loads of photos of the NY subway system--something I have been doing all of my life. These were incidental shots. I was trying to capture some of the lights, graf, and textures in the tunnel while riding home to Brooklyn on the N train. The "real story" in this series of shot turned out to be in the reflections of this wonderful gentleman.

lovely and moody!
why are you not allowed to take photos? in case you are a stalker, or you give someone an epileptic fit with your flash? perhaps in case you temporarily blind a driver and the train somehow swerves off the tracks, mounts the platform, causing carnage and mayhem? i cannot guess

GGP: POST 9/11 "SECURITY"

jeeff: 9th Jun 2005 - 21:06 GMT

once hool and i were on a subway in toronto with a piece of fake dog poo taking funny photos and the conductor stopped the train and yelled over the intercom until we got off.

jeeff: 9th Jun 2005 - 21:08 GMT

i also got in trouble for photographing a bowling alley in tokyo that happened to be beside a koban (police box). a cop came out and asked, "where you from?" and made me delete the photos.

GGP: 9th Jun 2005 - 21:13 GMT

yes, keeping the world's bowling alleys safe from...

elaine: 9th Jun 2005 - 21:25 GMT

because so many cameras are guns in disguise?

jeeff: 9th Jun 2005 - 21:30 GMT

you could be gathering "intelligence." if i'm ever accused of that, i'll say i'm gathering stupidity instead.

elaine: 9th Jun 2005 - 21:38 GMT

or just whine 'but i neeeed intelligence so badly' and look puppydog eyes?

"What with all the edicts against taking photographs on the NY subway system" -- stop crying, that shit was overturned.

GGP: 9th Jun 2005 - 22:01 GMT

nobody's cryin, babe.
gathering intelligence...that's good. we need more of that, for sure.

jeeff: 9th Jun 2005 - 22:09 GMT

btw, some of those shots would make nice desktop wallpapers at higher rez.

Peter: 10th Jun 2005 - 13:39 GMT

i love ghosty reflections of folks in train windows. i was watching them last night, while riding the Q over the bridge into brooklyn.

Peter: 10th Jun 2005 - 13:49 GMT

also: im very glad they scrapped the lame idea of the photo ban. ive been taking tons of photos on the subway :)

Fine Noise

It is wonderful to hear of your experience. No matter what happens in your life, transcend. Listen to the self, to existence, to the great being. Koan: When we use the word Love we are actually referring to something much more pervasive than the manifestation...
