Nostrand Avenue A-train stop, Brooklyn. The tilework and mosaics in this station (and the station as a whole) are decaying. Maintenance looks minimal at best.

These tiled-in grids once held advertisements, pasted inside the tile frames. Apparently, as time passed and other better-traveled subway stations sprung up nearby, there was little demand for advertising in this low-traffic outer-boro subway station. Now, these advertisement billboards have been tiled in. This makes the station easier to hose clean each night, as well as prevents graffiti from showing up in the previously-blacked-out grids left empty by lack of advertisement.

Here at Nostrand Avenue, you can transfer from the A-express train to the C-local, which terminates at Bedford Park Boulevard.
