And on the Third Day, He Did Place His Art High in the Heavens, Beyond the Reach of Peter's Phonecam. But lo and behond, his image doth nonetheless appear on Citynoise. This article has been viewed 2470 times in the last 3 years elaine: 5th Jun 2005 - 07:04 GMTare the birds greek? especially the e in 'pet bird'. i like the way s/he has used the arrow of the print, as a feeder? Peter: 6th Jun 2005 - 13:59 GMTive seen that first one! before it faded, even... the part at the bottom were the feet of an owl-like creature, the top was clouds. apparently, the red/orange color that made up the creature faded/washed away leaving it as it looks. i forget where it is (on park or vanderbilt?) but i remember seeing it when it was newer, maybe 6-8 months ago. there are alot of old ones on park, like this one. ill see if i can grab more shots too. thanks for snagging that last one! it was more colorful too, the last time i saw it. i guess Pet Bird has more recently learned to avoid water-soluble/non-permanent inks!
elaine: 6th Jun 2005 - 18:18 GMThate to break it to you, but it's not all birds Peter: 6th Jun 2005 - 18:22 GMTif i were a bird, i probably wouldnt mind hanging out in a place like that. elaine: 6th Jun 2005 - 18:26 GMTwell, they seem to have the run of the flat and the balcony. i wonder if there are carpets... elaine: 6th Jun 2005 - 19:50 GMTi am almost sick with pleasure to present to you this weblink; GGP: 7th Jun 2005 - 22:18 GMTpeter, how cool about the first image being something other than clouds n cows. elaine: 8th Jun 2005 - 06:56 GMTit's fab, isn't it? there is a new thing on bbc here started last spring, called 'springwatch' which is just perfect elaine tv. they set up camp in the country with loads of webcams and watch lots of little birdies, badgers, hares, whatever doing the spring things and there are links through to more webcams from that page. last year they had peregrines in a quarry and i fell in love with their air strikes on pigeons in that setting, and thought how i wanted them to come and live on my windowledge. i didn't get my wish exactly, but loving them being in london. i love birds of prey. i have seen kestrels here and there was a massive owl living in st pauls, 3ft tall aparrently, but it ate a poisoned rat and died, sadly. i would like to become a falconer, imagine how cool that would be? now that would be an ID licence i would happily flash in people's faces. or have a talking raven, 'nevermore'
elaine: 8th Jun 2005 - 15:05 GMTin birds i like predation and scale. happy to watch a killer bird anytime, and if they are big you don't need those binoculars that i can't bear. but scale on it's own also swings it for me. when i was in california i saw flocks of pelicans, they were magnificent. we were driving up the coast in an open topped car and they were flying just above us winking and smiling. i loved them. and battleship grey, very handsome, like pteredactyls GGP: 8th Jun 2005 - 18:31 GMTyes, pelicans are very primordial-looking birds. I saw some in Jamaica. They're aloof yet friendly-looking. I too love birds of prey, but it's also fun to watch tiny birds like sparrows/etc. chase huge hawks away from the area where the sparrows/etc. are nesting. That's always a sight! Peter: 8th Jun 2005 - 18:38 GMTdid you hear about the nyc hawks? www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4213496 and then... www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4244320 and best of all: elaine: 8th Jun 2005 - 18:41 GMTbut the tank grey ones, we don't have them here. if you see a pelican in a park it will be white, and i'd never seen a flock, and i'd never seen them flying, i think they get their wings clipped here, maybe. Anonymous (user-12lcl9r.cable.mindspring.com): 8th Jun 2005 - 20:50 GMTin a nutshell (or eggshell): "Major ecological impact of Starlings is driving out competitors. Because starlings are so aggressive and gregarious, they force out many native species. Starlings may attack established nests of other species destroying the eggs. An overabundance of starlings causes a lack of avian diversity ." elaine: 8th Jun 2005 - 20:59 GMTwel, technically the magpies are baddies too, but they are handsome and funny (and i have hidden shallows) Comment on this article..Browsing articles by Ggp - [previous] :: [next] |
