Indoor Weather at Tate Turbine
[previous] :: [next]this here is something which truly was awesome. the danish artist olafur eliasson made this installation 'the weather project' with mirrors glass and light, and sugar and water fog in the tate modern turbine hall in the winter of 2003. on the bbc website he is quoted as saying; "The weather has a couple of qualities I like a lot. It somehow defines a sense of community but we have very different opinions about it. I might like the rain a lot but you may dislike it." He added: "The other thing I like is the idea of it being unpredictable. It gives off a specific sense of time. You never have the same cloud again."
i went there under some duress, as i was in a grumpy mood, but it was so incredibly nice there i cheered up. it was like a big love-in, but with fantastic design, with everybody lying on the floor staring up at themselves in the mirrored ceiling, making star shapes with their bodies and holding hands...
