this here is something which truly was awesome. the danish artist olafur eliasson made this installation 'the weather project' with mirrors glass and light, and sugar and water fog in the tate modern turbine hall in the winter of 2003.

on the bbc website he is quoted as saying;

"The weather has a couple of qualities I like a lot. It somehow defines a sense of community but we have very different opinions about it. I might like the rain a lot but you may dislike it."

He added: "The other thing I like is the idea of it being unpredictable. It gives off a specific sense of time. You never have the same cloud again."

jeeff: 19th May 2005 - 16:38 GMT

that is freakin' cool. i want to make a room in my house like that.

elaine: 19th May 2005 - 16:48 GMT

you would need a high ceiling. the 'sun' is a semicircle reflected in the ceiling btw. it blissed everyone out, this, and even the pictures cheer me up

jeeff: 19th May 2005 - 18:18 GMT

ah shit i didn't even realize - a semicircle! mirrored ceilings are the way to go.

elaine: yeah, so the white blob is my flash

elaine: 19th May 2005 - 18:42 GMT

even when you were in it it was not immediately apparent that the sun was not round

EGLEY: 23rd Jul 2005 - 15:41 GMT

OH!!! What a terrific sun,it's seems to be real......
