I'd like to introduce you to the work of two local artists. The first is kind of a sad tale. This is the work of a homeless man. For years, he has stuffed things--greenery in spring & summer & mostly paper in the fall and winter--into the hollows of old fire hydrants & other unexpected spots in need of adornment.

The other local artist is unknown to me. I have no idea who this is, but here is his/her window, which as you can see is adorned with interesting cut-outs, mainly of various dog breeds. That big building reflected in the glass is the Williamsburgh Bank Clocktower--my favorite building in Brooklyn, and for many years, the tallest building in the borough. It is a grand structure, built just before the great depression.

Of all the cut-outs, this one is my favorite. Funny, I never noticed it until today. It's so serene.
