This article has been viewed 3584 times in the last 6 years karma: 19th May 2002 - 20:00 GMTthese photographs are mindboggling. im wondering how you were able to capture the streaky lights, and the streaky lights in the third photo, with everything else in focus. Peter: 19th May 2002 - 23:12 GMTthe streaky lights are thanks to the wonder that is the lomo compakt automat; as for the streaks-and-focused combo, well, the camera has a quirky feature that allows it to keep its lens open until the film is properly exposed... so, in a dark setting, it can stay open for up to a minute or two. what i did for these is to let the lens stay open for long enough to record the blurring/moving lights, then i flashed a handheld flash, which both provides enough light to signal the shutter to close and also floods enough light into the frame to record a crisp image of whatever's flashed, superimposed over the streaky lights. whew. sorry if that was long-winded, but i really like the lomo, heh.
Tamara: 7th Apr 2006 - 06:06 GMTPeter, I love my lomo too... great for long exposures and good colour saturation. I read online that the lomo society is not making them anymore, so hang on to it, very tightly. it will be worth more than pretty pictures in a few years. Peter: 7th Apr 2006 - 13:44 GMTeven better, mine was made in st. petersburg in 1975, way before the lomo society remakes... i had another, but gave it away. rest assured, ill most definitely hang on to mine, though! Tamara: 7th Apr 2006 - 14:30 GMTAaaahh you have one of the good ones, the remakes aren't made as well as the ones made pre 80's. I've had mine repaired already and I needs to go back :( But really nothing made these days, is ever as good as the original. Old school rocks. I still love my lomo camera though, it's small and great to travel with. EvilGentleman: 7th Apr 2006 - 20:24 GMTIt almost seems as if there is a spigot pouring out white paint in the photo with the squiggly red light.
