Pratt, KS
[previous] :: [next]Pratt, KS is a normal sized town in southcentral Kansas. The city population, according to the 2010 census, was 6,825 people. It is home to Pratt Community College and the Miss Kansas Parade and Pageant. The state headquarters for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks is constructed southeast of town. Pratt is quiet and boring for the most part. There are not many things to do here and not many places to eat either. Pratt is a good place to grow up because of its quiet neighborhoods. There are always "help wanted" ads listed in the newspaper along with many houses for sale. Pratt is a great town for families. The education system in Pratt is fairly new and affordable. One year at Pratt Community College (on average) is about $3,000. They also have small class sizes and really great scholarships. The worst part about living in Pratt is the horribly high taxes (highest in the state). Here are some Pratt County tax facts that I copied off of http://www.prattcounty.org/appraiser.html Residential - includes homes, apartments, and condominiums 11.5% Market Value / Cost / Income Commercial - real property used for commercial or industrial purposes 25% Market Value / Income Ag Land - land used to develop agricultural use 30% Use Value / Income Ag Imprv - improvements on land devoted to agricultural use 25% Market Value Vacant Lots - vacant land with no improvements 12% Market Value Non-Profit - real property owned and operated by not-for-profit organizations 12% Market Value All Others - all other real property not elsewhere classified 30% Market Value Here is a list of the places to eat in Pratt, KS. I might have forgotten some, but I think that is all of them currently open. Pratt has a Wal Mart and a Dillons for grocery shopping and there are plenty of gas stations to pick from. There is a very nice Maurices for girls cloths shopping and soon to be a Hibbett Sports. All in all, Pratt is a decent little Kansas town with a great school system! I love the Pratt County Fair! It is really fun! My favorite part is the demolition derby! The Green Sports Complex is SOOOOO nice! Has four baseball diamonds that are really well upkept. Lemon Park Lights at Christmas are really pretty! The park is really pretty all of the time anyway. So is 6th Street Park. SupppN: 20th Jul 2012 - 19:46 GMTI think Pratt kinda sucks just sayn... Supr boring... I like the sk8ing ring and sk8 parkk tho Lyn Chast: 20th Jul 2012 - 20:01 GMTI must say that Pratt has some really beautiful houses. I drove down Lake Road to go to the Pratt County Veterans Memorial Lake for a short camping trip and the houses along the way were very nice. The fishing at the lake was pretty good, but the lake itself did not strike me as a place I would want to visit again. It is not as nice as a friend of mine had led me to believe. James Snyder: 31st Jul 2012 - 06:34 GMTWhy r u putting Pratt down like that, I grew up n this town. Love it or leabe it. James Snyder: 31st Jul 2012 - 06:39 GMTI had some good days and some bad days, while living n Pratt. I graduated from the highschool n '89. I come and visit when I can especially for my Class reunions. So far I've had 2 reunons. James Snyder/San Angelo,Tx.: 31st Jul 2012 - 06:47 GMTThings have changed since I moved to Tx. New places have been built, like the ballpark, the new Highschool which I like added on the pedico building I went too school for shop, irc classes, etc. But I like it antway. Cati Court: 8th Aug 2012 - 18:40 GMTPratt is a pretty little town, but it's too bad that it is still flat there. If you keep going on Hwy 281 past Pratt and the tiny town of Sawyer, you come to hills and trees as you get to Medicine Lodge. fuzzytank: 24th Aug 2012 - 02:54 GMTthis place could be the wikipedia poster child of small town america. I has a cat named Kansas.
