Lower Manhattan as seen in screengrabs from Side Street (1950 film).

Film is about a mailman who steals what he thinks is a couple hundred bucks from a law firm. Turns out to be fifty grand in blackmail money. Noir hijinks ensue...

Entrance to Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel. A car-park - and space alien immigrant processing centre - built later.

Citibank Farmers Trust building now known as 20 Exchange Place. My favourite lower Manhattan skyscraper. Recently cleaned up.

20 Pine Street. Area behind rebuilt was rebuilt in late-50s as One Chase Manhattan Plaza.

Equitable Building - reason for 1916 zoning laws

The New York Stock Exchange - focus of everybody's envy, rage and frustration. Building directly to right is their support tower annex. Building across street to right is the Bankers Trust building at 14 Wall Street

Building directly to left was Commercial Cable building. Demolished in late-50s for more support offices. Corner of Mills Building can be seen across street.
