A fascinating article given the involvement of Nixon's government with the overthrow of a democratically elected government in a long standing constitutional democracy. The author oddly glosses over the death of Allende and the troops are there to 'restore order' which is an interesting way of putting it to say the least! Then we are shown the real meat of the article which is basically saying: invest in the new dictatorship, your money is safe (now that we've crushed the social democrats and murdered the socialists), look at all these natural resources which you will be able to exploit with cheap non union labour... thousands of Chiliens were being tortured, raped and murdered as this went to press.
