Palestinian Solidarity Protest

- Patrick - Tuesday, June 1st, 2010 : goo

You've probably already heard about the recent incident between Israeli security forces and the Palestinian flotilla. Within five hours organizers managed to get together about 1,500 who marched from the Israeli Consulate on Bloor Street West, past Queen's Park, to Yonge-Dundas square where author Naomi Klein added her own two cents.

L.E.R.O.: Great shots. Very expressive.

I wonder how come nobody's protesting North Korea's deliberate sinking of that South Korean ship that killedfour times as many people as the Israeli raid?

How come nobody protests the hanging of children in Iran?

how about rioting in front of the egyptian consulate?

People have to pick their individual fights. Just because the people depicted in these photos are protesting an action by Israel doesn't mean they should or have to protest another criminal act.

Leave all that anger, hate and futility in Palestine, the land you left, it's ugly and makes Canada an ugly place. If you can't bless your lucky stars for being in Canada, and forget what happened in Palestine, then go back to Palestine.
If you want to help build Canada, then stay here.
Both sides of this conflict have blood on their hands and need to get a grip, smarten up. Naomi Klein is a designer logo communist and needs to shut up.

dglenn: 5th Jun 2010 - 12:51 GMT

It's not what 'happened' in Palestine, it's what's happening. Palestine is essentially an Israeli concentration camp. Israel, like any other state, has a right to defend itself, but it doesn't have the right to imprison a people in their own land. Nor does it have the right to attack a ship of aid workers in international waters, killing 9 and injuring many more, picking them off from a helicopter like so many Sarah Palins wolf hunting. 'Go back to Palestine' is an ignorant thing to write. 'Love it or leave it' is a little un-Canadian, we're not American!

I care...: 6th Jun 2010 - 06:16 GMT

dglenn: It's not ignorant, its practical and it's my opinion. Please note, I did not call your opinion 'ignorant'. Nor did I call you 'Un-Canadian'. I do not care a whit what happens in Palestine or Israel, and simply put, if you care what happens in Palestine or Israel, then go there and put your effort into it. Yes, it is heart achingly sad and horrible that the situation continues, but as I said, BOTH sides have much to answer for and much blood on their hands. Simple, straight forward and very Canadian.

There are more than enough offensive things in my own country of Canada ahead of any concern I may or may not have for conflicts in the middle east or anywhere else for that matter.

Anyone who decides to emigrate to this country should come here to build a new life, a new beginning, leaving the old life behind. A life for the children of these who decide to come here, without the worry of some politico, cleric or a militia hack (or a Parent) to teach hate to children or how to break down and clean an AK-47. The people in this protest are continuing their agenda from Canadian soil and I resent it. I have the same resentment for any other group like this as well. This is not what Canada is for. There is nothing honorable in murder or terrorism.
