Down on the Waterfront
[previous] :: [next]Now that they found a body stuffed into a barrel and encased in concrete near the Jarvis Street Slip, I think a noir title is deserved. I happened to be in the area the other day ... totally unrelated ... and happened to be thinking it would be a good place to dump a body. At the moment it's a bit of a blighted industrial wasteland and the only thing resembling an "attraction" in the area would be the maligned, $2-hand-job Cherry Beach.
No cherries of any kind there, I believe. And the adjoining street's cherry was plucked quite some time ago.
It might be a while before this place gets a makeover, but just a bit closer to town and a surprisingly short distance to the absolute middle of the city is Cherry Beach, currently under construction. The RedPath Sugar refinery and the unrefined sugar dust it wafts into the air have something to do with the name.
And right next door they're throwing together Sherbourne Park. The Pan Am Games athlete's village is being built, literally, next door. That should help the progress.
