check this out! i love it. i am such an unreconstructed athropomophist, but look! angry robot building, don't you think? it will probably be invisible when it's done, the angriness, and the robotness both.
this is opposite the gasworks by the way

hasslehoff: ha, looks like bender from futurama!

elaine: yeh, he's my real boyfriend

Peter: 3rd May 2005 - 13:14 GMT

heh, i was thinking bender too... nice. yay robots!

elaine: 3rd May 2005 - 15:29 GMT

i have become more futurama identified lately due to the insistant dvd playing of my brother at xmas, and because of a terrible thing they did to the simpsons.yes, i have stopped watching it becase they moved it from bbc to channel 4 which means there is not only adverts in the middle but a sponsors blah, and frankly, that's enough for me. they didn't jump the shark, but saturation and sponsorship and a heavy plug for a new potential favourite, well.. and here's the proof!

prisma: 3rd May 2005 - 17:14 GMT

woah i see the robot in it. thats pretty kewl to visualise it like so.

Peter: oh my, how different!

elaine: 13th May 2005 - 14:30 GMT

weird, isn't it? had to share. poor robot, he is getting all bricked up

Peter: maybe its just his teeth!

Jamie: Keep us posted lady. robotbuilding kicks ass

Peter: 13th May 2005 - 16:11 GMT

yeah, i too would like to see the robot's progress through photos! ;)

Jamie: Yes; and perhaps an interview?

elaine: 13th May 2005 - 16:26 GMT

peter, you are an optomist. i feel the scaffolding was his golden age and it's all down hill from here, but then i am a pessimist. perhaps it will all be zuper when he is finished, or he will be toten hosen, except in these pages... where he lives!

Marc: 29th Jun 2005 - 04:43 GMT

ELAINE! the may29th pic you posted- near the gasworks- i have been in that building, had dinner there one night with a friend of a friend who lived there- we checked out that rooftop antenna- the friend who lived there was working on a hospital design in india.. crazy world. top floor denizen. really beautiful interior, much indian/bangla..

elaine: 29th Jun 2005 - 08:55 GMT

hey, marc. come back, we missyou. you said you were coming over this summer, is that happening? virually all the pics i have posted are within a 20 min walk of that building, as you probably realise. that building is the same as 'also spotted' but from a different angle. the lock is choked with water weeds and rubbish, which will be his view at the moment. posting pics soon, but am in brighton on a slow connexion just now

i love this series of "faces". someone should make an entry of just faces on things such as this. i would, but i have no "face" photos.

elaine: 1st Aug 2005 - 16:28 GMT

i am so excited! i have seen the robotbuilding i want to put in here, but the only thing is that i didnt have a camera with me today. i was almost sick with excitement

...i hear he comes to life with twinkling eyes when theres a fire.

elaine: 12th Aug 2005 - 14:09 GMT

if you made just a tiny fire? just to see his eyes light up? i only want to see him happy

Peter: 12th Aug 2005 - 14:24 GMT

well, i do have a video of his distant cousin awakening...

citynoise.org/video/bot.qtl

elaine: 12th Aug 2005 - 14:28 GMT

you are very brave staying behind to film while everyone else is saving their lives, what a trooper!

Jamie: 7th Sep 2005 - 14:34 GMT

what about this angry fellow? He lives inside a white 1995 fiat punto.

image 4676

elaine: 7th Sep 2005 - 14:42 GMT

ooh! he looks kind of sad, or like he had been peeling onions

Jamie: 7th Sep 2005 - 14:46 GMT

This guy is much happier

image 4677

i call him HappyBOT

elaine: 7th Sep 2005 - 14:55 GMT

hee hee hee. i would be friends with him. i feel i could get really drunk and drape myself over him and tell him all my woes and he would cheer me up

Jamie: 7th Sep 2005 - 14:59 GMT

I'll let you in on a little secret. If you are very nice to him (and not too largely built) you can sit inside of him. He has a courtesy seat for your comfort and you can see through his eyes on an old colour tv screen. that is if you want to.

elaine: 7th Sep 2005 - 15:15 GMT

i will bear that in mind for a suitably gin soaked occasion

soyelmango: 14th Sep 2005 - 22:18 GMT

I thought it was just me who saw these little animals holding the tracks on the DLR. There is a book of 'faces' in the photographer's gallery bookshop.

jamie: 30th Sep 2005 - 20:12 GMT

Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 8th Dec 2005 - 17:52 GMT

'cos you should be sad during a fire. All your shit is burning.

Peter: 8th Dec 2005 - 17:55 GMT

the weird part is that there was neither a fire... nor an actual fire extinguisher. just this robot-face sticker on the wall.

elaine: 8th Dec 2005 - 18:01 GMT

no wonder he is unhappy then, where are his friends?

Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 8th Dec 2005 - 18:27 GMT

His very reason for being has been denied him. I'm sad too.

lives near the center mall in . what with the there, the largest shopping area in the area (maybe the city?) and the huge pathmark grocery he's attached to, id imagine he has alot to see. ergo all the eyes.

i think his hat rings under certain circumstances, also, at which point his red set of eyes lights up... though when i saw him, he was sleeping.

elaine: 4th Jan 2006 - 16:52 GMT

woo!
i am with the idea of a ringing hat.
i see the red eyes as kind of a cross between binoculars and wraparound sunglasses, in which case you wouldn't know if he was beady eyed or snoozing on the job

Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 4th Jan 2006 - 16:53 GMT

I wouldn't want to be around when he wakes up. He may go on a rampage.

Jamie: 4th Jan 2006 - 17:12 GMT

i did post it before here in peter's 'menacing building' - which had the grr taken out of him a bit by having a tall robotfaced nurseybuilding accompanying him (to his ward, to be given his medication). but it belongs here, and now it is. all is well with the world.
