this is my 7:07 train from ogilvie transportation center in downtown chicago going north. the view when you leave chicago (either by CTA or metra) is amazing, especially in the morning because the sun rises to the east, over the lake and over the buildings. my train passes by the abandoned trainyards, industrial warehouses & stockyards which serve as a foreground to the city in the sky and the lake- yes.

naj: what a gorgeous shot

why thank you... i love to travel, i love trains maybe most of all, and even though one would think that i tire of my daily schedule of waking up early and taking the same train everyday, when i pass around this area leaving chicago its all worth it. a lot of the [north] city passes you by in such few images.

naj: where exactly is chicago again? in st.louis?

fede: 1st May 2005 - 19:37 GMT

chicago= the capital of the midwest, its about 5 hours northeast of St Louis. its the only thing the US midwest region has other than corn wheat and soy fields. chicago is a miracle with shitty weather. its on the lake. its huge. check it out in a map.

elaine: this reminds me of W Eugene Smith a bit

cool- i just finished reading the jungle which dealt alot with the oldskool chicago slaughterhouses and meatpacking districts. wow!

i love commuting by train myself. if theres good light, it always makes for a pleasant commute :)
