Peter: 15th Feb 2010 - 02:55 GMTahh... i saw this a few days ago and loved these photos. i didnt know what to comment, as i didnt want to just say "cool photos man!". but i will say this: that top photo... not only do i pass that every godforsaken day on my commute, but i just now got back from passing it even closer on a njt train. that a fucking awesome photo. i never get bored of the ground-level view, even seeing it every day, but this view blew my mind. that power-plant. the pulaski skyway. the beginnings of the container/freight yard. if you have any more like these, perhaps some outtakes, please post em! Franny Wentzel: 15th Feb 2010 - 03:37 GMTCasimir Pulaski sure does cut a dashing figure...
Even if he is standing in front of a tire store...
Peter: 15th Feb 2010 - 03:41 GMThe must have been a big man to have the world's longest cast-iron bridge named after him... ian: 16th Feb 2010 - 08:16 GMTThanks Peter. I'll post some more here, incl. a few I haven't posted before. You can find most of these on my flickr account at full resolution. http://www.flickr.com/photos/irees/sets/72157623182694567/ I snuck these pics during landing at Newark with my Nikon D700 and a 17-35mm f/2.8 at 17mm. They have been cropped a little bit to correct for horizon -- to avoid glare, I had the lens hood reversed, and the camera pressed completely against the window. But this made it impossible to accurately frame the pics and get the horizon right. Just kept firing the shutter and hoped for the best! Also, airplane windows have several layers of glass and plastic that robbed the saturation and contrast from the pictures, which is why they appear somewhat overprocessed. I can email you unedited originals if you'd like to have a go with them for a different look.
