Hope they didn't leave a mess on the carpet, eh? dglenn: 5th Jan 2010 - 01:40 GMTI've been collecting (stealing) old photos of T.O. of the web for a while now. Franny Wentzel: 5th Jan 2010 - 01:46 GMTThat's OK. Stealing is the highest form of flattery on the innerwebz. Too bad you didn't note the slight differences in these nearly identical shots...
Franny Wentzel: 5th Jan 2010 - 02:10 GMTHere a slightly larger version

Toronto was such a lovely city before the big boxes showed up...
dglenn: 5th Jan 2010 - 02:18 GMTThanks a lot Franny! I think Toronto is still a lovely city, although I live in Peterborough now. The big boxes can and will hurt any city. Franny Wentzel: 5th Jan 2010 - 02:27 GMTAt least they didn't level an excessive number of good buildings in the process. It seems they built the 'new' CBD next door to the old one. It wasn't till the late-90s that the once tallest Bank of Commerce building got buried behind new construction. dglenn: 5th Jan 2010 - 02:30 GMTThe old Bank of Commerce building really is beautiful. Have you been inside? Peter: 5th Jan 2010 - 14:37 GMTwow, now THIS is a post, dglenn! thanks for sharing these... toronto is a town i feel like i know a lot about, but having never been there, i dont have lots of specific imagery in my head when i try to think about what it looks like... mostly generic landmarks. thanks to posts like this, i now have tons of new historical/current views of the place. yay :) Michelle: 15th Jan 2010 - 02:48 GMTThis is the best post on citynoise that I've ever seen! So cool!!! Thanks for sharing!
Barbara: 28th Feb 2010 - 01:12 GMTToronto was and is a beautiful city. I live in LA now - after 25 years I still get homesick when I see photos like these. Thanks for sharing! Derek Flack: 5th Mar 2010 - 22:20 GMTGreat post. I just did something similar on blogTO. There are a few double ups, but a lot of different ones as well. Plus, I added Google Street View Captures of the present day buildings. I might throw a few of the non-repeats up here too. Cheers.
Jacquie Busby: 5th Jun 2012 - 22:39 GMTIt boggles my mind to see pictures of the Toronto Harbor Commission Bldg. that use to be almost on the water front, now it is north of the Gardener Expressway, it has not been moved, the lake has been filled in to create land to build on. Such a shame. The ferry ride to the islands use to be 15 minutes now about 5 minutes. If it keeps up we should be able to walk across. dilan: 9th Jun 2012 - 08:04 GMT
